Can I just say how much I LOVE return customers!!! I enjoying seeing them first of all and if they have little people I really enjoy watching them grown up! I photographed Nikki and John’s wedding last summer and for their 1 year anniversary they wanted to start a tradition to get family portraits done. It’s important to capture photos of families with littles, if you do it often they become very comfortable in front of the camera and you will get some amazing photos and you will be glad you did, they are only little once!
Some of the pictures John and Nikki were interested in capturing were some with just their daughter, some with the three of them and since they just had a 1 year Anniversary, some of the two of them. Due to timing and lighting I wasn’t able to get as many photos of the two of them as we all wanted, so I wanted to work extra hard at getting some special shots of just the two of them. With an 18 month old that can get a little challenging!
Nikki chose great colors for them to wear for the family photos, she wore a cute white dress, John wore a white polo and jeans and Ella wore a very sweet blue dress. I highly recommend wearing dresses for girls/ladies, it really is very flattering and adds movement to the photos. Guys you can’t go wrong with a collared shirt, even if it is an easy goin polo shirt. I have available for my families a “What to wear guide” and when you book with me, I am happy to provide this, it is by no means mandatory. But you will LOVE your photos even more if you follow the guide!
Nikki and John love Harry Potter! They had an Harry Potter decorations at their wedding and like to read them to Ella and with the new Harry Potter Illustrated books she loves them too. So they wanted to incorporate this in some of their photos. We did a few of them reading to her and got some of the cutest expressions from her (and Nikki)! Where we shot their photos (Bush Park, Salem Oregon) they have some crazy owls and fun signs so we had to incorporate the Harry Potter theme/book with the crazy attack owl sign! You’ll have to go check out some of the fun we had! (did you know that red/underlined word check out means there’s a link ?)
Some times when we have a little one in our lives, mom gets a little more hugs/snuggles/kisses but I was so excited that we got some really adorable pictures of Ella kissing daddy!!! It will make everyones heart melt, especially MOM! We took these at GOLDEN HOUR and I highly recommend trying to schedule your next photoshoot around this!
