The first year of a baby’s life there are sooooo many changes! They sit up, crawl, walk, eat their first foods, not mention go through about 3000 diapers in the first year! So documenting baby’s 1st year is sooo important!
When Debby found out she was going to be a Grandma, she contacted DL Photography by Darcie to see what it would look like to take pictures every month. We talked about everything that was important, milestones, any prints, locations, about of time. I gave her a total (which at first I thought was going to scare her away) but she simply said, hey can I make monthly payments so by the time he arrives we will have paid for this? OF COURSE! I love it when I can serve my clients, so they get to have what they envision!!
The first photoshoot we had was Lauren’s maternity shoot, then Debby called me when Kian was born and still at the hospital. First 48 hours are so special to capture at the hospital or where ever you give birth. You can’t get those special hours back. I like to come to your home when babies are little, it’s so special to capture where they lived, what your house looked like when they were little. My “babies” are 18 & 22 now and I look back at some of those photos and look at that pretty clean carpet, nothing on the walls (not even paint as we had just moved into a new house) and just how simple times were when they arrived.
It is so fun to see their little personalities start to form and start to really shine through. Kian doesn’t smile much but you got to love a boy with lots of rolls! OH THOSE ROLLS! They start to do funny things, roll over, do tummy time, start to laugh/giggle. And BONUS for me, I get to hold the babies, smell them (yes, smell them) and get in my baby fix!
Having photos with grandparents or special family members is super important to document and capture for both the baby and the grandparents. When they aren’t around anymore they will cherish those photos even more!
Mom sometimes, all the time, hate to be in front of the camera, but they are the most important people in their lives; they gave birth to them, feed/change them. Plus, you might think you “look fat” but when they graduate from High School you will look back and think boy I was skinny in that picture! I don’t have very many pictures where I am in front of the camera, but the ones that I do have are so special to me. Especially when I am with my boys. (insert heart emoji)
I really love to take photos outdoors, the lighting, the colors, the depth you can get when you take photos outdoors are amazing! I will get a little camera geek on you for a second, I usually use for both the indoor and outdoor photos my Nikon 50mm f/1.4 it lets in lots of light and gives a nice creamy/dreamy back ground. It’s the lens that is on my camera most of the time.
Kian turned 1 the other day and it was so fun to be there to take his photos! I had been there at all of these special moments and this was the icing on the cake (or cupcake)! I feel a little sad that I won’t be seeing him every month but I know that Debby will call me again to come and take photos for Kian (or even to just come and see him). You form a special connections with little people when they are in front of your camera, it’s fun to make them laugh, giggle or in Kian’s case when he gives me a hug. Who doesn’t love a little guy in a bow tie!
I hope you enjoy these photos of Kian, if you would like to see more of them, here is the link to all of Kian’s cuteness! https://www.darciesphotography.com/f826412691
