When Josh contacted me asking if I would be able to photograph their engagement photos, I was both honored and super excited! Josh had given me some possible dates, so after looking at the trusty weather app we thought we had picked a wonderful/dry January day! WELLLL, we didn’t plan on freezing rain a couple of days before the session! Every park was closed, every spot that we talked about was a HUGE mess!!! Josh and Dana wanted a PNW look to their photos and we were kind of limited on time. I decided to try one last location!!! BINGO!!! Josh and Dana came down from Renton/Seattle area to take care of wedding business, we then made plans to meet for their photo session. I am so excited for you all to see Josh and Dana’s engagement session!
Let me tell you a little bit about how I know Joshua. His mom and dad and my husband and I were in the same lamaze class before Josh and my oldest son, Hunter were born. We sat around the room and gave our due dates, and Lori (his mom) and I were due the same day (or a day apart, it was a long time ago). Well, Josh came 2 days early and my son was 9 days late so they ended up being 11 days apart. We have kept the boys together for everything as they grew up; swimming lessons, play dates, baby sitting, garage sales, vacation bible school, holiday fun. Well life happens, and Lori and the boys moved up to Renton, Washington. We tried to keep things up but growing boys, sports, school, etc got the best of us! We called the boys “womb mates” ~ Oops did I mention our 2nd boys were also close together too! Haha. So needless to say he is like a son to me!
Joshua and Dana met though a dating app and their first date was at the Half Penny bar in Salem unintentionally on trivia night. I wonder if they found out if they were a little competitive?? They’ve been together a year and a half. Josh proposed to Dana on her birthday by taking her to the Seattle boardwalk. They are planning a mid September wedding here in the Salem area. One of their dreams is to have kids and raise them with love and support! I can’t wait to see where they go in their journey together!
When they contacted me to do their engagement photos I encouraged them to wear solid colors, don’t be afraid to dress up and have fun. I really think we captured their personalities and fun loving nature together. I just love shooting engagement and wedding portraits, the couples are at their happiest, they are embarking on a new stage in their lives. I love being able to share my experience and knowledge, and coaching them along this exciting journey!
I hope you enjoyed hearing about their session and story, and will follow me for future posts!! Don’t forget to sign up to get notifications when new blogs are posted! Go check out Joshua and Dana’s full session! https://www.darciesphotography.com/p175870334
